May 28-30 SIOR Designation Course

The Houston/Gulf Coast SIOR Chapter has 2 upcoming courses for prospective SIOR members.  On May 28-30, SIOR HQ is hosting a 2 ½ day SIOR Designation course offering.   All SIOR applicants are required to take 3 mandatory courses topics: Ethics, Construction and Understanding the Lease Agreement. Additionally, applicants need to complete three elective courses (these may completed through SIOR elective course topics, as well as through a variety of other methods including other designations, CCIM courses, and graduate degrees). The SIOR Course being held in Houston in May will cover five topic areas - three mandatory and two elective.  If an applicant takes the course, they will still need to complete one elective course which can be fulfilled via an online course this summer or by taking the June 25th seminar on Negotiation Skills hosted by the SIOR Houston/Gulf Coast chapter.

If you are interested in earning your SIOR designation, it is recommended that you begin the application process now by filling out an APPLICATION and submitting recommendations and GFI information.  You can then take the SIOR Course in May, attend the seminar in June, and then, provided your application is approved and you meet all of the requirements, you will earn your SIOR designation.

June 25 Negotiation Skills Class

The June 25th Negotiation Skills class is open to all.  This course offers three phases of the negotiation process that can assist a broker with a commercial lease negotiation.  Topics covered include: key elements in the negotiation process, win/win, setting the stage, and closing techniques.  An application has been submitted to TREC for 4.0 elective CE credits.
